April Showers: Daisy Flowers — A Luncheon in Bloom
While I found myself soaking in the beauty of Italy this April, my heart—and my imagination—were very much present at a lovely gathering back home. Thanks to the joy-filled snapshots and glowing comments shared across social media, it’s clear that the “April Showers: Daisy Flowers” luncheon, hosted by Rg and Candy Goldbach, was nothing short of delightful.

Held at BrickTop’s in Birmingham, Alabama, the setting alone promised elegance. Known for its warm ambiance and polished charm, it provided the perfect backdrop for a theme that married the simple beauty of daisies with the fresh, hopeful spirit of Earth Day. It’s easy to picture the tables—gracefully arranged with cheerful daisy accents, perhaps soft whites and sunny yellows woven throughout, creating an atmosphere that felt both refined and welcoming.

On the Menu
The menu was as thoughtfully curated as the décor. Guests began with a selection of appetizers that invited lingering conversation—creamy spinach and artichoke dip, fresh sushi, and perfectly crafted cocktails. Each offering set a tone of relaxed indulgence, the kind that encourages you to settle in and savor the moment.
Entrées offered something for every taste, a detail that surely contributed to the event’s success. From the richness of crab cakes to the delicate flavors of trout, and from the playful appeal of shrimp tacos to the classic satisfaction of steak frites, the variety was impressive. Chicken Milanese and Caesar salad topped with shrimp rounded out the choices, ensuring that each guest found a dish to enjoy. Judging by the glowing remarks, every plate delivered both flavor and presentation.
Chocolate Chips and Daisies
But, what truly sets a gathering apart are the thoughtful touches – the details that linger long after the meal ends. One special touch, was Candy’s note to all of us with details about baking sugar cookies as a child in Spring and the history of the month of April. As the luncheon drew to a close, guests were sent home with sweet reminders of the day. Chocolate chip cookies, lovingly boxed for pickup, added a nostalgic and comforting note. Alongside them, charming gift bags included a daisy-themed kitchen towel, a coordinating pot holder, and packets of daisy seeds – a beautiful nod to both the theme and the season. It’s the kind of gesture that extends the gathering beyond the table, inviting each guest to carry a bit of the day into their own home.

Grand Prize Winner
A highlight of the afternoon was the grand prize drawing. Bonnie Callahan was the lucky recipient of a lovely set of Lefton daisy napkin rings, along with coordinating napkins and placemats. One can only imagine how perfectly they will adorn her future table settings, continuing the spirit of the day.

Lovely Takeaway
With twelve in attendance, the luncheon maintained an intimate and welcoming feel—large enough for lively conversation, yet small enough to feel personal and connected. The laughter, the shared stories, and the evident care poured into every detail made it a gathering to remember.
Even from afar, it’s clear that this was more than just a meal—it was an expression of hospitality, creativity, and the simple joy of bringing people together. “April Showers: Daisy Flowers” wasn’t just a theme; it was an experience rooted in beauty, thoughtfulness, and the celebration of friendship.

And perhaps that’s the loveliest takeaway of all: even when we cannot be present, the beauty of a well-hosted gathering has a way of reaching us anyway – through smiles, stories, and the quiet inspiration to create something just as meaningful in our own homes.
Wishing I could’ve been in two places at once…
Stay tuned for our May gathering at the home of Charlotte Burdette, where our theme will be “A Love Affair with Limoges.”
